ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed serious concern over the growing trend of Islamophobia and hatred against religious minorities in India, urging the international community to take notice of the situation.
In a message issued on the occasion of World Interfaith Harmony Week, Bilawal Bhutto called on people across the world to renew their commitment to tolerance, compassion, and peaceful coexistence. He said that hatred against Muslims and other religious minorities in India, allegedly under state patronage, is increasing rapidly and requires serious attention from the global community.
He emphasized that in the current era marked by intolerance, hatred, and division, the need for mutual respect among religions has become more important than ever. Interfaith harmony, he said, is the language of humanity that heals wounds, builds trust among people, and strengthens societies.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated that Pakistan’s true spirit lies in its pluralistic heritage, where people of different faiths have historically shared common hopes, culture, and aspirations.
He said the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, along with the democratic struggle of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, continues to guide the nation.
He further stressed that equality of citizens and respect for all religions form the foundation of a just society.
Warning that extremism thrives where dialogue is suppressed, he urged religious scholars, youth, teachers, and civil society to reject hatred and promote dialogue.
