LAHORE: River flows in Punjab are continuously increasing, raising concerns of potential flooding in areas near the rivers.
According to a spokesperson from the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the water levels in rivers are steadily rising, resulting in moderate flooding at key points including Tarbela, Kalabagh, Chashma, and Taunsa.
Current river flow rates reported by PDMA are 330,000 cubic feet per second (cusecs) at Tarbela, 432,000 cusecs at Kalabagh, 480,000 cusecs at Chashma, and 454,000 cusecs at Taunsa.
The rise in water levels is primarily due to heavy rainfall in the upper regions. PDMA has urged residents living near riverbanks to move to safe locations to avoid the risk of flooding.
