ISLAMABAD: Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, heading a delegation, is on an official visit of Pakistan to explore avenues to expand bilateral relations in different fields.
The Russian deputy prime minister on Thursday held a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister Office. During the meeting, he reiterated his country’s resolve to enhance relations with Pakistan.
He was of the view that the Pakistan-Russia relations remained mutually beneficial abd could be enhanced and expanded for the benefit of both the nations.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Sharif said that Pakistan considers boosting its with Russia as an important priority of its foreign policy.
He recalled that he had fruitful discussions with President Vladimir Putin in July this year and conveyed his thanks to President Putin. He said that Pakistan offers huge opportunities of investment to foreign companies. The prime minister also said that the government had established a special facilitation center for foreign investors in different sectors.
Later, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Russia and Pakistan in the presence of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Russian deputy prime minister.
The MoU signified the desire of the two countries to further strengthen mutually advantageous cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, energy, IT, agriculture, science and technology and education.
