Sarfraz Bugti elected chief minister of Balochistan

Speaker says the PPP candidate scored 41 votes in the assembly.

QUETTA: Sarfraz Bugti of Pakistan People’s Party was on Saturday selected as the chief minister of Balochistan.

The session of the Balochistan Assembly was held with Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai in the chair to elect the leader of the house. After a voting, the speaker announced that Bugti has been elected as the chief justice by getting 41 votes.

Bugti had the support of the members of the provincial assembly belonging to the PPP and the PML-N and there was no other candidate.

It may be mentioned here that Bugti was earlier inducted into the caretaker federal government led by Anwaarul Haq Kakar and was given the portfolio of interior minister. However, he later resigned to contest the election for the Balochistan Assembly.
