RIYADH: The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced the final dates for the issuance of Umrah visas and the entry of pilgrims into the kingdom.
The last day to issue Umrah visas will be the 1st day of Shawwal, and pilgrims must enter Saudi Arabia before 15th Shawwal. Umrah pilgrims are required to leave the country by the 1st day of Dhu al-Qi’dah.
The announcement was made during the ministry’s 17th consecutive virtual meeting with Saudi Umrah companies, where officials also emphasized strict compliance with regulations for both Umrah and Hajj seasons. The ministry clarified that the Hajj pilgrimage must be undertaken on a valid Hajj visa and not via an Umrah visa.
A ministry spokesperson stated that despite international challenges, preparations for Hajj 2026 are proceeding on schedule. Hajj visas are being issued rapidly, and flight schedules will be released after Eid al-Fitr. Arrangements for accommodation and other facilities for pilgrims in Mecca and Medina are being finalized.
Additionally, the Pakistan federal cabinet has introduced changes in Hajj quota distribution for 2026. Seventy percent of the quota is allocated to the government Hajj scheme, while thirty percent is reserved for private tour operators.
Last year, mismanagement prevented over 67,000 Pakistani pilgrims from performing Hajj. The new policy aims to ensure transparency, better oversight, and easier access for pilgrims under the government scheme.
Pilgrims are advised to use the “Pak Hajj App” or the ministry’s official website for authentic Hajj-related information.
