RIYADH: Saudi authorities have announced strict penalties for individuals who overstay their visit visas, including imprisonment and heavy fines.
According to the Saudi Public Security Department, visitors who remain in the Kingdom after their visa expires without notifying the relevant authorities may face a fine of up to 50,000 Saudi riyals and imprisonment for up to six months.
In an official statement posted on the social media platform X, the department urged citizens and residents to report any cases of visit visa overstays. Authorities warned that failure to report such violations could also result in legal consequences.
The Public Security Department further emphasized that residents who assist overstayers by providing accommodation, transportation, or employment may face penalties, including possible deportation if they are expatriates.
The move comes amid an intensified crackdown on violations of residency, labor, and border security regulations across the Kingdom. Thousands of individuals have reportedly been detained in recent days as part of ongoing enforcement campaigns.
Saudi officials reiterated that all visitors must comply with visa regulations and inform authorities immediately in case of unavoidable delays beyond their permitted stay.
