ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday barred police from arresting PTI chairman Imran Khan till August 24 in a case pertaining to the murder of lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar in Quetta.
A three-member bench led by Justice Yahya Afridi and comprising Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Hassan Azhar Rizwi issued the directives while hearing Imran Khan’s plea seeking to quash the case.
The PTI chief is currently incarcerated at the district jail of Attack after being sentenced to three years imprisonment in the Toshakhana case.
Request from transfer from Attock jail
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) meanwhile sought a reply from the federal and Punjab governments by August 11 on Imran Khan’s plea for transfer from Attock district prison to Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.
During the hearing today, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq remarked that the court will issue an order today regarding the meeting with the former prime minister today.
The lawyer representing the incarcerated former premier, Sher Afzal Marwat, informed the court that he went to Attock jail as per the court order a day earlier but he was not allowed to meet his client.
Justice Farooq then inquired if the jail has any specified meeting times. To this, the lawyer replied that visitations are allowed till 6pm in the evening.
The former prime minister’s lawyer further stated that his client is being kept in a small cell measuring 9×5.
