Second wave of corona virus: Govt decides to keep educational institutions open across the country
ISLAMABAD: The Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference has decided to keep educational institutions open across the country.
A virtual conference of inter-provincial education ministers was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Education and Vocational Training Shafqat Mahmood, in which the education ministers of all the four provinces, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir participated through video link.
The conference participants were briefed by the Ministry of Health on the second wave of corona virus across the country and cases in educational institutions. The meeting was also briefed on the steps being taken to curb the spread of the pandemic.
The inter-provincial education ministers agreed on not to close educational institutions in the current situation, saying that for the time being, educational institutions will remain open, but the situation will be closely monitored,l. During the meeting on educational institutions, especially SOPs inside schools, and various proposals were considered to ensure strict implementation.
It was decided in the meeting that it was agreed not to give winter holidays or to give minimum holidays. The decision whether to take minimum winter holidays or not will depend on the geography of the province.
Similarly, there will be no winter holidays in Punjab. No decision could be taken on the April-August academic year and the middle and matriculation board examinations.
The next meeting of the inter-provincial education ministers will be held in December.
