BAJAUR: Pakistani security forces foiled an infiltration attempt near the Bajaur sector along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, capturing a suspected militant alive, security sources said on Friday.
According to officials, troops intercepted the individual while he was attempting to cross into Pakistani territory. The suspect, identified as Abdullah, is reportedly linked to a banned militant outfit. He was taken into custody for further investigation.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions along the border. Pakistan has launched Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq in response to what it describes as unprovoked actions by the Afghan Taliban regime across the frontier.
Security sources claim that retaliatory operations by Pakistani forces have resulted in the destruction of multiple militant hideouts and equipment. Reports also suggest heavy losses on the opposing side, although independent confirmation of these claims remains unavailable.
Officials further stated that firing incidents were reported at several points along the border. Pakistani forces responded in areas including the Nawagai sector in Bajaur, Tirah in Khyber, and Chitral, where a checkpoint allegedly used by Afghan Taliban fighters was targeted.
