Security forces foil major infiltration bid, 54 militants killed

When India is leveling baseless accusations against Pakistan, such militant activities point towards external instigation, says ISPR.

RAWALPINDI: Security forces thwarted a major infiltration attempt from Afghanistan and killed 54 terrorists, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) here on Saturday.

According to the ISPR, during the nights of April 25-26 and 26-27, terrorists attempted to cross into Pakistan via the Hassankhel area of North Waziristan. Surveillance by security forces detected the movement leading to a swift and decisive response.

During the operation, a significant cache of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered. ISPR said intelligence reports indicated the terrorists were acting at the behest of “foreign masters” and were planning large-scale terrorist activities within Pakistan.

The ISPR added that at a time when India was leveling baseless accusations against Pakistan, such militant activities pointed towards external instigation.

This incident marks the highest number of militants killed in a single counter-terrorism operation in the ongoing campaign against terrorism, the ISPR added.
