RAWALPINDI: Security Forces successfully foiled a major terrorist plot in North Waziristan, averting what officials described as a potentially catastrophic attack.

According to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was launched on October 24 after security agencies received credible intelligence regarding the presence of Khwarij elements linked to an Indian proxy network, Fitna al Khwarij, who were reportedly preparing a vehicle-borne suicide attack.

Acting on the information, troops conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Jhallar area of North Waziristan District. During the operation, security forces engaged the terrorists’ location with precision fire, destroying the vehicle being prepared for the suicide mission and eliminating three Indian-sponsored militants on the spot.

Following the engagement, a sanitization operation was launched in the area to ensure the elimination of any remaining terrorists.

ISPR reaffirmed that the ongoing counterterrorism campaign under “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan (NAP), will continue with full momentum.

The statement emphasized that the sacrifices and professionalism of Pakistan’s brave soldiers reinforce the nation’s collective resolve to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
