RAWALPINDI: Security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in the Kalat district of Balochistan on December 6, killing 12 Terrorists, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), troops targeted a militant hideout following credible intelligence.
A fierce exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the killing of 12 militants described by ISPR as being “supported from abroad.” Weapons, ammunition and explosive materials were recovered from the site.
ISPR stated that the slain militants were involved in multiple attacks in the region. Clearance operations are continuing in surrounding areas to eliminate any remaining threats.
In an official statement, ISPR reiterated that under the ongoing “Azm-e-Istehkam” (Resolve for Stability) campaign, security forces and law-enforcement agencies remain committed to eradicating militancy backed by foreign support.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the successful operation, commending security forces for their efforts. They affirmed that the nation stands firmly with the armed forces in the fight against terrorism.
Meanwhile, Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind reported two significant developments in the province over the past 48 hours.
He said that nearly 100 militants and “fugitive commanders” surrendered to the state in Dera Bugti, while 12 militants were killed in the Kalat operation.
Rind added that the provincial government was following a clear policy, those willing to surrender will be given an opportunity, while armed attacks will be met with force.
