PM in Beijing for High-Level Bilateral Engagements

BEIJING: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Beijing on Monday aboard a high-speed bullet train, following his participation in the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tianjin.

Upon arrival at Beijing South Railway Station, the Prime Minister was warmly received by Ms. Wang Hong, a senior member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, alongside senior Chinese officials and representatives from the Pakistani Embassy.

During his visit to the Chinese capital, Prime Minister Sharif will take part in the 80th anniversary commemorations of the World Anti-Fascist War — a historic event reflecting on global unity and sacrifice during World War II.

In a series of high-level meetings, the Prime Minister is expected to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, and other international leaders. The discussions will focus on strengthening Pakistan-China strategic ties, regional security, and accelerating cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif will attend and address the China-Pakistan Business-to-Business (B2B) Conference, where he will engage with leading Chinese and Pakistani business leaders. The event aims to boost bilateral trade, promote investment, and explore new opportunities in sectors including energy, technology, infrastructure, and manufacturing.

The Prime Minister’s visit is seen as a key step in deepening Pakistan’s economic and diplomatic engagement with China, reaffirming the countries’ time-tested partnership and commitment to regional peace and prosperity.
