ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of National Peace Message Committee, highlighting the increasing security challenges facing Pakistan, particularly the alliance between the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Afghan Taliban.
He disclosed that there was credible evidence linking these groups and revealed that hostile foreign entities are funneling resources to support terrorist operations within Pakistan.
He stressed the importance of the National Peace Message Committee as a vital platform for fostering national unity, tolerance, and reconciliation.
“At this critical juncture in Pakistan’s history, we must come together to promote harmony and resolve our differences,” he said, calling for all factions of society to unite in the face of growing challenges.
Prime Minister Sharif also commended armed forces for their bravery and strategic excellence, particularly referencing the victory in May 2025, when the military, under the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir, achieved a decisive victory over India. “The success was due to the courage, training, and strategic foresight of our armed forces,” Sharif said, calling the operation a testament to Pakistan’s military capabilities.
He reminded the committee that Pakistan had lost over 100,000 soldiers and civilians in the fight against terrorism, with sacrifices made by people from every province. He also noted Pakistan’s contribution to global security, stressing that the country has played an instrumental role in combating terrorism beyond its borders.
“Pakistan has not only fought for its own safety but has helped make the world safer from terrorism,” Sharif said, urging the international community to recognize the country’s sacrifices and express gratitude.
“Terrorists will be rooted out from Pakistan’s soil, and we will take the necessary steps to ensure that they do not find refuge in our borders,” he stated firmly. “We will ensure that these forces of terror are driven out of the country and eradicated once and for all.”
