DUBAI: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva met on the sidelines of World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai.
According to a statement, the two sides discussed macroeconomic stability achieved through the IMF program and government reforms in Pakistan.
Prime Minister Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to implementing institutional reforms and maintaining fiscal discipline.
He underlined the importance of the progress made under the IMF Extended Fund Facility. While expressing his commitment to tax reforms, improved performance of the energy sector and sustaining progress in key areas, the prime minister assured the IMF official of his government’s commitment to the economic stabilization strategy and the effective sustainability of the plan.
On the occasion, Kristalina Georgieva appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in effectively implementing the IMF programme.
The IMF managing director said Pakistan’s economy is moving towards growth after stabilization, the performance of Pakistan’s economy is good with a decrease in inflation.
She said Pakistan is on the path of development after achieving economic recovery.
According to the statement, the IMF managing director also appreciated the Prime Minister’s personal commitment to the implementation of the reform agenda.
