Shehbaz Embarks on Official China Visit, To Attend SCO Summit

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for China on Friday on a six-day official visit, during which he will attend the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and hold high-level talks with Chinese leadership.

The Prime Minister left Islamabad from Nur Khan Airbase on a special aircraft. According to the Foreign Office, the visit will take place from August 30 to September 4.

During the SCO summit, Mr. Sharif will deliver an address highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, enhanced connectivity, and shared prosperity across the region.

On the sidelines of the summit, the Prime Minister will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang to discuss various dimensions of Pakistan-China bilateral cooperation, including political, economic, and defense ties.

He is also scheduled to attend a grand military parade in Beijing, organized to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Global Anti-Fascist War.

In addition, Prime Minister Sharif will hold meetings with prominent Chinese entrepreneurs and corporate executives to explore avenues for strengthening trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
