ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a high-level committee to assess the progress of federal development projects across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The committee, which will be headed by Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, is tasked with visiting Peshawar to review ongoing federal projects and ensure their timely completion.
The prime minister met with Members of National Assembly and other public representatives from KP in Islamabad today, where he underscored the federal government’s commitment to resolving the region’s pressing issues.
“The federal government is fully aware of the problems faced by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and we are taking concrete steps to address them within our jurisdiction,” he said.
Emphasizing the importance of timely project completion, PM Sharif stated that the ongoing development initiatives in KP and the resolution of public issues are among the highest priorities for the federal government. The meeting also discussed the challenges in sectors like healthcare, education, infrastructure, and governance.
In a bid to address educational disparities, the prime minister referred to his recent visit to Haripur, where laptops were distributed to students from all over KP. He said the laptop distribution program would continue on merit, enabling students to enhance their skills with modern technology.
The meeting also revealed sharp criticism from KP’s public representatives about the provincial government’s performance. According to the lawmakers, the provincial administration had failed to develop a coherent policy on key issues, including health, education, infrastructure, and public welfare. They accused the provincial government of neglecting the public’s pressing needs.
The public representatives who attended the meeting included MNAs Babar Nawaz, Samar Bilour, former parliamentarians Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Zahid Khan, Pir Sabir Shah, Captain (retd) Safdar, MPA Dr. Ibadullah, and others. These leaders voiced concerns over the provincial government’s inability to implement a clear strategy for addressing the problems faced by the people of KP.
