Shooter yet to be caught for killing 22 in US

Police identify killer as Ribert Card and say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

The police in the US state of Maine are yet to trace and arrest a young man who went on a shooting spree and killed 22 people and injured scores of others a day earlier.

“Robert Card seen in surveillance footage pointing a semi-automatic weapon with an extended clip as he walked into a bowling alley in the town of Lewiston should be considered armed and dangerous”, the police said in a statement today.

It added that Card is a certified firearms instructor and a member of the US Army Reserve.

Lewiston city councillor Robert McCarthy told CNN that law enforcement had “confirmed 22 dead, many, many more injured”, with local media reporting shootings had occurred at multiple locations.

The Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston declared the incident a “mass casualty, mass shooter event” and is working closely with neighbouring hospitals to provide care to the injured.

President Joe Biden has been briefed on the situation and is receiving regular updates from Washington.
