ISLAMABAD: Six women have been arrested in different cities on the charge of drug peddling.
The Anti-Narcotics Force in a statement today said that these six women were caught smuggling narcotics in different cities of Pakistan.
The women were working for mafias who smuggled drugs especially from Khyber Pakthunkhwa to other provinces.
It said 26 kilograms of charas was recovered from five of the six arrested women.
The ANF said 87 capsules full of heroin were recovered from the stomach of one woman at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.
Moreover, 22 kilograms of charas was recovered from two women after their arrest in Orangi Town, Karachi.
One woman was also arrested from Chungi No 26 near Islamabad after recovery of 750 grams of charas and ice from her possession.
It may be mentioned here that a few days ago, the Counter-Terrorism Department of Khyber Pakthunkhwa stated that since 2014 at least 51 women have been found involved in different heinous cases.
Of these women, 30 were found involved in terrorism, 13 in kidnapping for ransom and three in target killing cases.
Moreover, two women were involved in extortion cases, and three others in terror financing.
Imran Shahid, the DIG of the department, said involvement of women in heinous cases was a challenge for law enforcement agencies but efforts were ongoing to bring such criminals to book.
