Snowstorm Paralyzes Chicago, Thousands of Flights Canceled

CHICAGO: A severe snowstorm has brought daily life in Chicago to a standstill, causing widespread disruption across the city.

According to U.S. media reports, the heavy snowfall has severely impacted air travel, leading to the cancellation of over 2,000 flights. Authorities have urged residents to avoid non-essential travel and exercise caution during the storm.

The intense winter storm sweeping through the Great Lakes region has resulted in significant delays and cancellations at O’Hare International Airport, leaving hundreds of stranded passengers facing long waits.

On Saturday, the National Weather Service recorded 8.4 inches (21.34 cm) of snowfall at O’Hare, marking the highest single-day snowfall for November in the airport’s history. The previous record of 8 inches (20.32 cm) was set on November 6, 1951.

In areas surrounding Lake Michigan, snowfall totals have already exceeded 12 inches (approximately 30 cm) since the onset of the storm on Saturday.

In western Michigan, hundreds of churches have advised worshippers to remain at home or participate in online services due to the hazardous weather conditions.

The storm has disrupted daily routines, transportation, and public services, highlighting the severe impact of extreme winter weather on urban life and travel infrastructure.
