ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir addressed a conference of Ulema and Mushaikh in Islamabad today and said that those who do not believe in Shariat and accept the constitution of 1973 are not true Pakistanis.
The Army chief said that we ask people to exercise their right to hold protests and rallies, but peacefully.
He said that some elements were spreading anarchy through the social media. He said that in the eyes of Allah, spreading violence on earth was the biggest crime and the Pakistan army was fighting against those involved in spreading violence in accordance with the command of Allah.
The general said that criminals’ gangs and smugglers were backing terrorists, adding that social media was also being used to spread anarchy.
Without naming India and in the context of the latest development in Bangladesh, the Army chief said that where are those people who used to say that they have thrown the two-nation theory into the Bay of Bengal.
He asked religious leaders to promote peace and harmony, adding there was no compulsion in matters of religion.
He said that in the war of terror, people of Khyber Pakthunkhwa have rendered invaluable sacrifices and we acknowledge their contribution for promotion of peace in the country.
The Army chief said that for decades Pakistan has been hosting millions of Afghan refugees. We advise them not to act like Khawarij and work against their brother Islamic country, Pakistan. He also said that no power on earth can harm Pakistan because it was made through countless sacrifices to live for ever.
