The Federal Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the provincial governments to take effective action against the armed wings of political and religious parties in a letter issued to the provinces by the ministry.

According to the letter, which is available with News Diplomacy, various political and religious parties have formed their own militias which wear uniforms and ranks like the armed forces. Militia formation is a violation of Article 256 of the Constitution and contradicted to the third point of the National Action Plan.
