Son of Senate Chairman Robbed of Expensive Watch in Barcelona

BARCELONA (SPAIN): Syed Abdul Qadir Gillani, son of Senate Chairman and former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani, was robbed of an expensive wristwatch while on a leisure trip to Barcelona, Spain.

According to reports, unidentified thieves snatched the watch from Abdul Qadir Gillani and fled the scene.

The stolen watch was valued at €56,000, which amounts to approximately PKR 18.5 million.

Abdul Qadir Gillani, who is also a Member of the National Assembly, was in Barcelona for sightseeing when the incident occurred.

Local media in Spain have often reported an increase in street crimes, particularly involving high-value items such as luxury watches and designer accessories. Tourists are frequently targeted in crowded areas and popular sightseeing spots, with perpetrators usually escaping quickly through narrow streets or on motorbikes.

Barcelona authorities have advised travelers to exercise extra caution when wearing expensive jewelry or accessories in public. In recent years, several high-profile cases involving foreign dignitaries, athletes, and celebrities have drawn attention to the city’s pickpocketing and snatching problem, prompting increased police patrols in tourist-heavy districts.
