ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, met with Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner, Rear Admiral (Retd.) Fred S. Wiratne to discuss security arrangements for the visiting Sri Lankan cricket team.
The meeting was attended by the team managers of both countries, PCB Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed, Islamabad’s Chief Commissioner, and the Inspector General of Police.
Security officials briefed the Sri Lankan envoy on the comprehensive measures implemented to ensure the team’s safety.
During the meeting, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner expressed deep sorrow over the recent terrorist attack in Islamabad, conveyed condolences to the families of the victims, and reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s solidarity with Pakistan.
Minister Naqvi emphasized that the Sri Lankan players are regarded as state guests, and the government has taken all necessary steps to provide them with foolproof security.
He reiterated that ensuring a safe and peaceful environment for visiting athletes remains a top government priority.
The Sri Lankan High Commissioner expressed satisfaction and confidence in Pakistan’s security arrangements and appreciated the government’s commitment to ensuring the team’s protection.
