ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Shazra Mansab Ali Khan, visited Mingora Swat today to meet families affected by recent floods and assess relief efforts on the ground.
During her visit, Dr. Shazra Mansab expressed solidarity with the flood-affected communities, assuring them of the government’s commitment to rehabilitation and measures aimed at strengthening resilience against future disasters.
She highlighted the importance of protecting vulnerable populations from the intensifying impacts of climate change.
The Minister also took part in the nationwide Monsoon Plantation Drive, “Aik Beti, Aik Shajar”, launched earlier this week under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
The initiative aims to plant 41 million trees across Pakistan to restore ecosystems, bolster climate resilience, and encourage community participation in environmental protection.
Federal Secretary for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Ms. Aisha Humaira Moriani, accompanied the Minister during the visit.
The campaign is part of a broader effort by the government to integrate climate action with disaster recovery, emphasizing both immediate relief and long-term environmental sustainability.
