Tajik President’s Visit: Accord Reached to Boost Cultural Cooperation
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Tajikistan have agreed to formalize agreements aimed at strengthening cultural cooperation ahead of the expected visit of the President of Tajikistan to Pakistan.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, and Tajikistan’s Minister of Culture, who is currently on a special visit to Pakistan to mark the celebration of Tajik Cultural Week.
During the meeting, both sides discussed avenues for bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of culture, literature, media collaboration, digital media partnerships, and people-to-people contacts. Emphasis was placed on enhancing media relations and preserving and promoting the shared literary and cultural heritage of both countries.
Tarar congratulated the Tajik Minister on the successful organization of Pakistan–Tajik Cultural Week and highlighted the centuries-old historical, cultural, and civilizational ties between the two nations. He stressed that Pakistan places great importance on cultural diplomacy as a means of strengthening bilateral relations.
He noted that digital media plays a vital role in promoting public engagement, cultural harmony, and positive narratives in the modern era.
The Tajik minister reaffirmed her country’s commitment to continuing close cooperation with Pakistan in cultural exchanges and the digital media sector. She emphasized that highlighting the shared literary and cultural heritage would further strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly nations.
Both sides expressed their resolve to deepen cultural, media, and public ties as part of broader efforts to enhance Pakistan–Tajikistan relations.
