Terrorism increased in Pakistan after Taliban takeover of Kabul, Says Kakar

Afghan authorities should avoid using threatening tone over repatriation of illegal migrants.

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has said the threatening tone of the authorities of interime government of Afghanistan over repatriation of illegal aliens from Pakistan was unfortunate and against the spirit of bilateral ties.

Talking to media persons here, he said that Pakistan had shared details of terror incidents in which elements had used the soil of Afghanistan.

He said there has been 60 percent increase in terrorism incidents in Pakistan since the Taliban takeover of Kabul in 2021.

He said during the last about two years, at least 2,000 Pakistanis, including security forces, lost their lives in terror attacks carried out from across the Afghan border in Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.

Mr Kakar said that Pakistan had decided to repatriate all aliens living in the country without proper documents and the drive was not targeted at the Afghan nationals alone.

He expressed the hope that the Taliban regime would take action against terrorists hiding in Afghanistan in the interest of both the countries.

The caretaker prime minister said that for decades Pakistan had been hosting millions of Afghan refugees and even today there were over 1.4 million Afghans in Pakistan.

He said the 25,000 Afghan nationals who had applied for immigration in different countries are currently not being deported till they leave the country after completion of their documentations.
