CALIFORNIA: A huge fire is raging through the forest areas in the north of the US state of California, forcing over 30,000 affected people to flee to safer places.
According to US media reports, over 1,400 firefighters are in the affected area and trying to put out the flames and four of them have lost their lives in the line of duty so far. About a dozen of helicopters were also helping in the efforts to extinguish the fire.
The flames have spread to residential areas damaging properties including houses. However, there were no immediate reports of casualties in the local population.
The governor has declared an emergency in the area and directed that roads leading to the affected area should be kept clear for emergency vehicles.
The governor also sought help from the California National Guard in the ongoing operation to extinguish the fire that has engulfed about 20,000 acres of land.
