TEL AVIV: Thousands of people took to the streets in the Israeli capital of Tel Aviv on Saturday night against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calling for his resignation and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
According to Israeli media, the angry protesters blocked roads by burning tires at several areas. In retaliation, police used force to disperse the protesters snd also arrested some of them.
The public protests have been started as the Israeli war in Gaza continued for nine months in which over 38,000 people have so far been killed by the Zionist forces.
The protesters were carrying placards and banners and chanting slogans in support of the ceasefire and calling Netanyahu as Crime Minister and asking him to step down.
Despite UN Security Council resolutions and a world court direction, Israel seems not ready to stop the war and its atrocities in Gaza. The protests launched by some political parties and civil society organizations have demanded an immediate ceasefire and resignation of the government and announcement of a date for general elections in Israel.
According to foreign media, during the week of protests against the government, major roads would be blocked while a protest would also be held outside the military headquarters in Tel Aviv.
