Thousands of people took to the streets across the Middle East and other parts of the world on Friday in support of Palestinians and condemning Israel for its air strikes on civilian population Gaza.
The participants of the rallies said Israel by launching air strikes and severing supplies of essential food items to the besieged Gaza was committing war crimes.
On the other hand, Jewish communities in France and elsewhere held rallies in solidarity with Israel and against cross-border Hamas assault from Gaza.
France and Germany banned pro-Palestinian demonstrations and several Western countries said they had stepped up security at synagogues and Jewish schools fearing that protests could lead to acts of violence.
meanwhile, the death toll from the air strikes continued with the besieged people of Gaza mourning the deaths and burying their loved ones.
Hamas urged Palestinians to rise up in protest against Israel’s bombardment of the blockaded coastal enclave, calling on them to march on Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem and to confront Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank.
Since Hamas attacked over 22 towns in Israel last week, Israel been dropping bombs on Gaza and killed more than 1,500 Palestinians.
There has been strong support and sympathy for Israel from Western governments and many citizens over the Hamas attacks, but the Israeli response has also prompted anger, particularly in the Arab and Muslim world.
