KARACHI: Three Pakistan Rangers personnel were martyred after terrorists attacked a Rangers camp in Karachi, while security forces repelled the assault, killing three terrorists and arresting another in an injured condition.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists attempted to storm a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp after detonating an explosive at the main gate and trying to breach the security perimeter. Rangers personnel responded immediately, preventing the attackers from entering the facility.
The military’s media wing said three terrorists were killed during the exchange of fire, while a fourth attacker was captured alive in an injured condition. It added that the arrested suspect is an Afghan national.
The attack claimed the lives of three Rangers personnel, while four others sustained injuries during the operation.
ISPR said a clearance operation is underway in the surrounding area to ensure no other attackers remain at large.
The statement added that security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue counterterrorism operations under the national campaign aimed at combating terrorism. It also said those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice.
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir expressed condolences to the families of the martyred personnel and paid tribute to their sacrifice.
