KOTRI: A freight train engine derailed near Kotri Railway Station on Friday, causing the down track to Karachi to be completely shut down.
According to railway officials, the engine suddenly came off the track, prompting authorities to quickly separate it from the rest of the train and begin restoration work.
As a result, all passenger trains traveling from Hyderabad to Karachi, including the Khyber Mail Express and Zakariya Express, were halted at Hyderabad Railway Station.
Four hours after the incident, a crane was brought in to lift the engine back onto the track. Initial estimates suggest that restoration may take around two hours.
The derailment also disrupted several passenger trains coming from Punjab to Karachi, which were temporarily stationed at Hyderabad Railway Station.
Railway administration stated that once the engine is placed back on the track, the affected line will be cleared immediately to resume train operations.
An inquiry has been launched to determine the cause of the accident. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
