Transporters Increase Fares After Diesel Price Hike

LAHORE: Following the latest rise in diesel prices by Rs. 6 per litre, transporters have increased fares on several routes from Lahore, with passengers now facing higher travel costs of up to seventy rupees.

According to transport operators, the fare from Lahore to Bahawalpur has been raised by fifty rupees, the fare to Multan has been increased by forty rupees, while the fare for travel from Lahore to Dera Ghazi Khan has gone up by seventy rupees.

The adjustment in fares has caused concern among daily travelers, many of whom say that the sudden increase will put additional pressure on already rising living expenses. Some passengers have urged the authorities to regulate transport fares more strictly to prevent excessive charges in the future.

Meanwhile, a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance states that the current price of petrol remains unchanged at Rs. 265.45 per litre, whereas the new price of high-speed diesel has been fixed at Rs. 284.44 per litre.
