RAWALPINDI: The tri-nation T20 series begins today in Rawalpindi with the opening match featuring hosts Pakistan taking on Zimbabwe.
The trophy unveiling ceremony was attended by the captains of Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lanka, marking an official start to the competitive tournament.
Pakistan’s captain, Salman Ali Agha, expressed confidence in his team’s prospects, noting that the series promises intense competition.
He emphasized that the team will focus on providing opportunities to emerging players, while highlighting Pakistan’s strong lineup of all-rounders capable of contributing with both bat and ball.
Zimbabwean captain Sikandar Raza stated that his team aims to reach the final and compete at the highest level, while Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka said his side is prepared to take on every challenge throughout the series.
Sri Lanka, however, faces a setback as two key players, captain Charith Asalanka and fast bowler Asitha Fernando, have returned home due to illness and will miss the series.
The Sri Lanka Cricket Board confirmed their departure, underscoring the health-related challenges teams face during international competitions.
