Tributes Paid to Founding Fathers at  Independence Day Ceremony in New York

NEW YORK:  Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, in collaboration with the Consulate General in New York, celebrated the country’s 79th Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony at its chancery building.

Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, led the event, which was attended by Consul General Aamer Ahmad Atozai, Deputy Permanent Representative Ambassador Usman Jadoon, and officers and staff of both missions.

In his address, Ambassador Asim paid tribute to Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Iqbal, other founding fathers, and the workers of the Pakistan Movement, highlighting the extraordinary achievement of Pakistan’s creation in just seven years. He stressed that unity, sacrifice, and devotion remain central to the nation’s identity.

The Ambassador also celebrated Pakistan’s recent victories in Marak-e-Haq and Bunyan-ul-Marsoos, describing them as comprehensive successes not only on the battlefield but also in diplomacy and information.

He praised the country’s military leadership, martyrs, and ghazis for their sacrifices in defending the homeland and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) and oppressed populations worldwide, including Palestinians.

Consul General Aamer Ahmad Atozai emphasized that the defense of Pakistan is a living reality, secured daily by the courage and discipline of the Armed Forces and law-enforcement agencies. He also underscored the responsibility of Pakistan’s missions abroad to protect national interests and uphold the country’s values with professionalism.

Messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister were read by Muhammad Faheem, Muhammad Rashid, and Muhammad Imran, while the proceedings were conducted by First Secretary Rabia Ijaz.

The ceremony reflected both national pride and a commitment to advancing Pakistan’s role in global peace, security, and development.
