Trump and Saudi crown prince sign strategic deal

Deal marks one of the largest bilateral investment and defense collaborations in U.S. history.

RIYADH: U.S. President Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman today signed a sweeping $600 billion strategic partnership agreement in Riyadh.

The deal marks one of the largest bilateral investment and defense collaborations in U.S. history.

The comprehensive agreement includes a $600 billion Saudi commitment to invest in American infrastructure, energy, technology, and defense sectors. It also encompasses a $142 billion arms deal, the largest ever between the two nations, focused on upgrading Saudi Arabia’s military capabilities through advanced aircraft, missile defense systems, and cyber technologies.

“This agreement will unleash historic economic growth and job creation in the United States while strengthening our strategic alliance with Saudi Arabia,” President Trump said at the signing ceremony.

Key components of the deal

Saudi firm DataVolt will invest $20 billion in U.S. AI and energy infrastructure, while major American companies including Google, AMD, Oracle, and Uber have pledged over $80 billion in joint ventures.

Defense Modernization

The $142 billion defense package spans air and missile defense, border security, space-based systems, and modernization of land and naval forces.

New funds totaling $14 billion have been created for energy, aerospace, and sports industries, aimed at promoting innovation and U.S. job creation.

Space and Energy Cooperation

NASA and the Saudi Space Agency announced a collaborative CubeSat mission for monitoring space weather, while energy partnerships aim to advance clean and reliable power solutions.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman hailed the agreement as “a transformative step toward a new era of U.S.-Saudi cooperation.”

The deal is seen as a strategic counterweight to growing Chinese and Russian influence in the Middle East and signals a major economic and diplomatic pivot as both nations seek to deepen their alliance in a rapidly shifting global order.
