UNITED NATIONS: Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations Amir Saeid Iravani has accused US President Donald Trump of provoking political instability and violence, warning that his statements and policies pose a serious threat to Iran’s sovereignty and national security.
In a letter addressed to the UN Security Council, the Iranian envoy said Trump bears responsibility for actions that endanger regional peace and stability. He said that military operations carried out by the United States and Israel have resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians.
According to Iran’s UN mission, Washington is seeking pretexts for military intervention in Iran with its broader policy aimed at regime change in Tehran. The letter stated that sanctions, threats and efforts to create unrest are being used as excuses to justify aggressive actions, adding that such plans by the United States would fail once again.
Separately, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi strongly criticized remarks by the German Chancellor, saying Berlin is “the worst place to lecture others on human rights.”
He accused Germany of remaining silent over the alleged abduction of Venezuela’s president and over the deaths of tens of thousands of people in Gaza, saying such silence should be a source of shame.
