FLORIDA: U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that both the United States and Iran are interested in reaching a deal, and that Israel has been briefed on recent developments.
Speaking to the media in Florida, Trump said Iran had initiated contact for negotiations and that Tehran has been allowed to sell oil on its ships.
Trump said there is no guarantee a deal will be reached but described it as a positive step for both the region and Iran if it occurs. He also mentioned that, under a potential agreement, Iran’s enriched uranium could be put to U.S. use.
Addressing Iran’s nuclear program, Trump said that if U.S. B-52 bombers had not intervened, Iran could have produced nuclear weapons within weeks. When asked whether U.S. troops would enter Iran, Trump declined to comment, citing operational strategy.
