WASHINGTON: A new survey has revealed that 43 percent of Americans opposed U.S. military strikes on Iran, while only about one in four supported the action.
The poll also indicates a slight decline in former President Donald Trump’s approval rating following the attacks.
According to an Ipsos survey, 27 percent of respondents said they support U.S. strikes on Iran, while 43 percent expressed opposition. Meanwhile, 29 percent said they were unsure or had not formed a clear opinion on the matter.
The survey further revealed that Trump’s approval rating dropped by one percentage point after the strikes.
A majority of respondents — 56 percent — said Trump is too willing to use U.S. military force abroad. This view was shared by 87 percent of Democrats, 60 percent of independent voters, and 23 percent of Republicans.
Among Republican respondents, 55 percent supported strikes on Iran, while 13 percent opposed them.
Additionally, 44 percent of independent voters stated they would not support the war if oil and gas prices increase as a result of the conflict.
The online survey was conducted among 12,082 participants, with a reported margin of error of 3 percent.
