PESHAWAR: Unknown armed men shot dead two personnel of the Khyber Pakthunkhwa province on Monday, a spokesperson for the police said.
The incident occured in the Lakki Marwat district early in the morning. The police spokesperson added that the two personnel were on a patrolling duty on a bike. When they were patrolling in the area of Kherokhel Pakka of Lakki Marwat, armed persons opened fire on them from behind.
As a result, the two police personnel fell on the road and the attackers escaped. The injured were shifted to a hospital where they were pronounced dead.
The government has failed to check armed attacks on police and security forces in Khyber Pakthunkhwa which have become frequent. A large number of security and police officials have been killed in the line of duty.
Whenever such an unfortunate incident occurs, the government authorities including the president and prime minister and the chief minister issue condemnation statements with a claim that terror elements would be eliminated.
