U.S. Declares BLA & Majid Brigade as Terrorist Organizations

WASHINGTON: The U.S. Department of State has officially designated the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its affiliated group, the Majid Brigade, as foreign terrorist organizations.

According to s statement issued by the State Department, the BLA has been listed as a global terrorist organization since 2019. The designation highlights the group’s involvement in facilitating terrorism in Pakistan, with backing from foreign elements.

The statement revealed that the BLA claimed responsibility for several attacks, including suicide bombings at Karachi Airport and Gwadar Port in 2024.

In 2025, the group also admitted to hijacking the Jaffar Express train, which resulted in the killing of 31 people and the taking of over 300 passengers hostage.

The Department of State emphasized that the Trump administration remains committed to fighting terrorism and supporting regional security efforts.
