ISLAMABAD: The United States has announced the suspension of all visa services in Pakistan until March 6 due to the prevailing security situation.

According to the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, the decision applies not only to the embassy in Islamabad but also to the U.S. consulates in Lahore and Karachi.

Visa services had previously been suspended until March 2; however, the suspension has now been extended to March 6.

The development follows unrest in Karachi, where 10 people were killed and 35 injured during clashes outside the U.S. Consulate. The incident occurred amid protests triggered by reports regarding Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Demonstrators in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi reportedly surrounded U.S. diplomatic missions during the protests.
