DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Federal Authority for Identity has announced that visa overstay fines will be waived for individuals affected by airspace closures and flight suspensions.
Authorities stated that this decision applies to travelers and residents who were unable to leave the country on their scheduled dates due to the current regional situation.
The waiver covers those holding visit visas, tourist visas, or exit permits, including residents who had canceled their residency permits and were preparing to leave but could not travel due to flight cancellations or rescheduling.
Officials said that the measure aims to protect affected individuals from legal issues and financial burdens caused by circumstances beyond their control. Ongoing regional tensions have led to the closure or restriction of several countries’ airspaces, significantly disrupting global air traffic and leaving thousands of passengers stranded in different cities.
The Federal Authority urged affected individuals to stay updated through official channels, and noted that further relief measures may be announced if necessary.
