ISLAMABAD: British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott visited the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) headquarters, where she toured the National Emergencies Operations Centre (NEOC).
During the visit, she met with the Chairman of NDMA, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik.
The British High Commissioner was given a comprehensive briefing on Pakistan’s disaster preparedness and awareness systems. She was also briefed on the technical and operational scope of the National Emergencies Operations Centre. In addition, the briefing covered NDMA’s use of digital portals for disaster management, as well as the tools employed for risk assessment and mitigation.
Chairman NDMA briefed the delegation on the key role the organization plays in disaster response and risk mitigation on a national scale. A detailed overview of the potential risks Pakistan and other countries may face in 2026 was also provided. The delegation was given an in-depth look at NDMA’s mobile application, early warning systems, and technology-driven initiatives aimed at disaster prevention and response.
The British High Commissioner praised NDMA’s advanced and integrated disaster management system. She commended the National Emergencies Operations Centre (NEOC), describing it as one of the best emergency response centers in the world. The discussion also highlighted opportunities for expanding collaboration between Pakistan and the UK in the areas of disaster risk reduction and climate resilience.
