LONDON: British-Pakistani businessman Shafiq Akbar has been recognised in the UK Parliament with a prestigious Achievement Award
The award was given to him for his outstanding contribution to promoting investment in Pakistan and creating local employment opportunities.
A formal ceremony was held at Parliament, where Lord Shafaq Mohammed presented the award to Mr Akbar. The honour celebrates his role in launching high-quality development projects in Pakistan and generating hundreds of jobs at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the event, Shafiq Akbar said he was deeply honoured by the recognition, describing it as more meaningful than any other award he could receive.
“Being recognised in the British Parliament for my work is truly humbling,” he said. “It’s more valuable to me than any trophy or title.”
Recalling his personal journey, Mr Akbar shared that he first arrived in the UK as a student and, after living in London for 15 years, chose to return to Pakistan to establish his business, a decision he described as one of the most rewarding experiences of his life.
He emphasised that Pakistan offers some of the most attractive investment opportunities in the world and encouraged overseas Pakistanis to take advantage of the country’s favourable business environment.
“I invite the overseas Pakistani community to explore the immense potential back home and contribute to our country’s progress through investment and enterprise,” he added.
