UNITED NATIONS: The United Nations has expressed concern over escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, urging both sides to resolve their disputes through diplomacy.

A spokesperson for UN Secretary-General António Guterres said the organization is worried about increasing military movements, war exercises, and naval deployments in the Middle East.

The statement comes after Iran reportedly sent a letter to the United Nations warning that it would exercise its right to self-defense in the event of any aggression, holding the United States responsible for the consequences.

Tensions between the United States and Iran have intensified in recent days, raising fears of potential military confrontation.

Reports indicate that the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford has entered the Mediterranean Sea, while American fighter jets have reportedly taken positions at air bases in Portugal.

According to international media reports, any potential U.S. strike on Iran could directly target Iranian leadership, with claims that Washington may attempt to destabilize or overthrow the Iranian government. However, there has been no official confirmation of such plans.

The United Nations reiterated its call for restraint and emphasized the importance of diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation in the region.
