GENEVA: The United Nations Human Rights Council has passed a resolution condemning Iranian missile and drone attacks.
The resolution was adopted during an emergency session requested by Gulf countries and Jordan, with support from over 100 nations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) strongly criticized the Iranian attacks, calling them a clear violation of international law. The UAE specifically condemned strikes targeting airports, ports, and energy facilities, emphasizing that these attacks were carried out against countries not involved in any conflict.
The resolution highlighted that Iran’s actions, including interference in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab, pose a serious threat to global peace. It noted that the escalating tensions are affecting international trade, energy security, and global supply chains. The resolution reaffirmed support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and freedom of the affected nations.
Iran was urged to immediately halt attacks and provocations, and to provide full compensation to the victims. Political analysts say the overwhelming support from over 100 countries reflects growing international diplomatic pressure on Iran.
