UNITED NATIONS: The United Nations Security Council has approved a resolution supporting former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan.
The resolution was backed by 13 countries, including Pakistan, with no votes against it. Russia and China abstained from the vote.
The U.S. representative thanked Pakistan, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Turkey, and Indonesia for their support, stating that the council had recognized the seriousness of the situation and taken necessary action.
The representative described the resolution as “historic and constructive” and highlighted its key points:
However, Hamas and other Palestinian resistance groups rejected the resolution. They argued that it does not fully respect Palestinian rights and demands, imposes international oversight on Gaza, and compromises the neutrality of any international force deployed.
Hamas emphasized that humanitarian aid in Gaza should be managed by Palestinian institutions under UN supervision.
