WASHINGTON: The United States has expressed deep concern over the escalating tension between Pakistan and India and urged both the nations to act with restraint and avoid further deterioration of the situation.

U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce, in a press briefing, stated that Washington is in continuous contact with both countries and is taking daily measures to prevent any military confrontation or diplomatic crisis.

She added that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to speak with the foreign ministers of both Pakistan and India either today or tomorrow. She also encouraged other global leaders to engage with the two countries to help de-escalate the situation.

“We are taking this moment very seriously,” Bruce said. “Direct communication is taking place at the ministerial level, and we hope these efforts will yield positive results.”

In response to another question, the spokesperson confirmed that contacts are being made not only at the foreign minister level but also through various other diplomatic channels. Both sides are being urged to act responsibly, as the world is watching the situation closely.

It is worth noting that in response to the Pahalgam attack, India has hinted at strong measures, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. Pakistan, in turn, has issued a robust diplomatic and legal response.

The international community now closely watches whether U.S. diplomatic efforts can succeed in reducing tensions in South Asia.
