WASHINGTON: The Trump administration has taken decisive action by canceling the visas of 80,000 immigrants who were found to be involved in various criminal activities.
According to senior U.S. officials, the majority of these visa cancellations were due to cases involving violent crimes, theft, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Officials provided a detailed breakdown, stating that 16,000 visas were revoked specifically due to driving under the influence, while 12,000 visas were canceled as a result of violent crime convictions.
In addition, approximately 6,000 student visas were revoked in August due to either the expiration of visa validity or violations of U.S. laws.
Furthermore, the news agency reported that following an attack on political commentator Charlie Kirk, six visas were revoked last month after individuals were found to have posted inflammatory content online, highlighting the administration’s strict enforcement of visa regulations in cases of incitement or unlawful behavior.
